Mycotoxin (Mold) Testing

Mold is one of the most common and often missed drivers of chronic illness. Even in homes and workplaces where you can’t see or smell it, mycotoxins (the toxic byproducts mold produces) can quietly accumulate in your body and stir up symptoms that look like a dozen other conditions. Mycotoxin urine testing measures the specific toxins your body is currently dealing with, so we can identify exposure, support clearance, and start to truly heal.

What you should know about mycotoxin testing

What it measures

Specific mycotoxins your body is currently processing — including ochratoxin, aflatoxin, gliotoxin, trichothecenes, and zearalenone — produced by mold species like Aspergillus, Stachybotrys, Penicillium, and Fusarium. We use Real Time Labs or Mosaic Diagnostics (GPL-MycoTOX), the two most respected mycotoxin labs, both with simple at-home urine collection.

Symptoms it helps explain

Chronic fatigue that doesn’t respond to rest, brain fog, anxiety, mood changes, headaches, sinus congestion or chronic post-nasal drip, sensitivity to scents and chemicals, unexplained skin issues, joint pain, and that “I was fine until I moved into this house” or “we had a leak a few years back” story.

What we’ll do with results

We’ll review which mycotoxins are present, talk through likely exposure sources (your home, your workplace, even past exposures), and build a layered plan to support your drainage pathways, calm immune reactivity, and gently clear what your body has been holding onto. Source removal matters as much as detox — we’ll talk through both.

Why mold matters, even when you can’t see it

Mycotoxins are tricky because they don’t behave like other toxins. They can take up residence in your sinuses, fat tissue, and nervous system, where they quietly stir up inflammation, dysregulate your immune system, and overlap with conditions like chronic fatigue, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and chronic Lyme. Most concerning: you don’t need visible mold to be sick. Water damage you can’t see, a slow leak under a sink, or a previous home from years ago can all leave a body still trying to recover.

Mycotoxin urine testing is done in the comfort of your own home with a simple sample collection — no blood draw needed. From there we can see which mycotoxins are actually present and how your body is responding. That turns the conversation from “is mold a factor?” into “exactly which toxins are at play and how do we clear them?”

Common Questions about Mycotoxin Testing

How do I know if I’ve been exposed to mold?

You may not. Many people with mycotoxin illness can not always identify the source, especially when exposure happened years earlier or in a building that didn’t appear to have a problem. Symptoms are often the first real clue and can include fatigue, brain fog, sinus issues, and new sensitivities to scents.

What if my home looks fine?

Mold can grow behind walls, under flooring, inside HVAC systems, and in places you’d never think to check. Even past water damage that was “dried out” can leave mycotoxin contamination behind. If your testing shows exposure, we’ll talk through next steps for evaluating your environment, this can often be completed by a professional inspection.

What does treatment look like?

Healing from mold is a layered process: we address the exposure source, open up your drainage pathways (liver, lymph, gut), use targeted binders to gently clear toxins, calm immune dysregulation, and support whichever systems have taken the biggest hit. We move at the pace your body can handle and adjust as your symptoms improve.
